Welcome to the Michael-Haydn-Museum!

On 10 August 1983 the Johann-Michael-Haydn-Society was founded. Its main aim has always been that of a museum that shows the importance of Michael Haydn’s life and work as a leading musician in Salzburg between the years 1763 and 1806.
Additionally, the society organizes recitals with young musicians and supports research work on the Music History of Salzburg, which is published in a musicological series called “Denkmäler der Musik in Salzburg” later on. Michael Haydn’s life, his work and times are being displayed in a (since 2006) newly-designed exhibition at the Johann-Michael-Haydn-Museum in the courtyard of the Abbey of St. Peter in Salzburg:
Johann Michael Haydn: His Life - His Work - His Time.
